You Can Write a Love Poem

The first writers who come into my mind when I think about the love poetry are Browning and Shakespeare. However, if you want to impress your loved one, it would be much better to write your own piece of poetry rather than reading or writing on a card creative work of someone else. Imagine the face of your beloved one when he or she sees the love poem written by you. It will be definitely worth all the efforts.

Don’t be frightened by thoughts about writing a poem. There’s nothing extraordinary about this. Just get your smartphone or a piece of paper and see how easy it actually is!

But before we start, let’s get some frightful ideas out of your head. If you can’t rhyme two lines, or can’t write in a flowery language, it doesn’t mean that you can’t compose a love poem. The same goes to meters and metaphors. Writing love poems doesn’t have to be that difficult because what you basically need to do is to write several lines from the bottom of your heart to express your sincere appreciation for someone you adore. The means you use for that are not that important. Forget about the limits!

Now, when you have dealt with these fears, you can go to writing. Probably the most difficult thing is to decide what you want to say by creating a poem because love is depthless and the person you love has many sides. Don’t try to express everything in your poem. Better choose one quality of your beloved that you appreciate or one aspect of what you feel and focus on this.

Another thing that you can do is to tell a short story about a pleasant experience that you have shared together. It may be as simple as a visit to the park or a walk near the lake in the evening. Think about all that has happened on that occasion and recollect your feelings. Do you remember the sparkles in the eyes of your significant other? Mention only the most critical moments in your poem.

When you know what you will write about, it’s high time to convert your ideas into words and here you can go with one of the following two options:

• write your thoughts in usual sentences, like you’re sending an email
• write short sentences like in a haiku poem

Once you’re done, read what you have written aloud. If you don’t like the way it sounds, try to shorten the sentences or change some words. If it still doesn’t sound the way you want, you can choose another alternative and write a silly poem. You can describe some funny occasion that happened to both of you and made you closer. Don’t forget that this is a pure expression of your feelings and it doesn’t have to be a masterpiece that will be kept in minds of people for ages. It’s just supposed to make your soul mate smile. When you have finished writing and you like the result – write it by hand on a beautiful card and give it a title if you want. Now your love poem is ready to reach your loved one, melt their heart, and made them feel uniquely treasured.
